Accounts and phone verification
Google sign-in supplies your account identifier, name, email address and verification status. SayWordy stores these details with your session, preferences and access permissions. Signing in does not grant access to your Google Contacts.
To receive calls on a personal SayWordy number, verify your receiving phone. Telnyx sends and checks the verification code. SayWordy stores the verified number, verification expiry and abuse-prevention records. Your calling PIN is separate: choose 4–8 digits in your account and say them aloud when you call your SayWordy number. Speech recognition processes the spoken PIN; SayWordy checks it against a salted hash and excludes it from saved call transcripts and contact-selection requests.
Google Contacts and your address book
Import from Google Contacts requests separate, read-only permission to retrieve contact names and phone numbers. SayWordy shows a preview so you can choose which contacts to save. It does not edit Google Contacts or send messages to imported contacts.
The preview expires after 10 minutes and is removed by scheduled cleanup. Google access tokens are used for the import request and are not saved for ongoing access. Selected contacts are stored privately in your SayWordy account until you remove them. CSV and vCard files are parsed on your device; only the contacts you choose to import are sent to SayWordy.
Saved names, nicknames, numbers and language preferences help route calls and identify whom you ask the assistant to call. Typesafe may process the text of your spoken request and candidate names and nicknames to help select a saved contact. You confirm the selection before SayWordy sends the destination number to Telnyx to place the call. Cloudflare stores this information. Google Contacts data is not used for advertising or sold.
Use Remove beside a saved contact to delete it from your SayWordy address book. You can revoke Google access in your Google Account. Revoking access does not delete contacts you already saved in SayWordy; removing a contact does not delete earlier call history.
Video calls and local recordings
SayWordy video calls process speech to provide translated audio and captions. The call transcript is saved to the host’s account. Chat messages are temporary and stay in the live call. Invitation links and QR codes give access to the same private room; share them only with the person you want to join. QR codes are created on your device.
A participant with a verified SayWordy account can choose Record to create a video file on their device. Everyone in the call sees a recording indicator. The recording contains the two camera views, the recorder’s microphone and the translated voice they receive. Muted audio and disabled cameras follow the call controls. SayWordy does not upload this video file. Download it before leaving the page; downloading requires a signed-in account.
Nearby-device detection checks brief high-frequency signals through the microphone already used for the call. Detection is analyzed locally and does not create a separate audio recording. A detected device switches both participants to push-to-talk. You can turn automatic checks off or choose Same room manually in Audio settings.
Meet transcripts and beta recordings
The extension saves a transcript on your computer during translation. You can download it or choose to save a copy to your account. Camera captions and the SayWordy logo are drawn locally into your outgoing camera video; participants viewing your tile can see them. The extension does not record camera video.
Hosted beta translation requires confirmation that participants have agreed to recording. It saves original and translated audio, transcripts and timing information for internal quality review. Tell participants before starting. Stopping translation ends new capture but does not delete earlier recordings. This recording setting is specific to the hosted Meet beta; calls placed with the website phone form do not save raw audio.
Cloudflare stores beta recordings privately. Access to recording review is restricted to verified SayWordy administrators. Deepgram processes original speech for transcription and quality analysis, including timing, confidence and estimated speaker labels. The analysis is kept privately to investigate missed words, translation delays and playback problems. Speaker labels are estimates, not verified identities.
There is no fixed automatic deletion period for pilot recordings yet. For access, correction or deletion requests, contact paul@returned.com with your account email and approximate call time. Do not send a PIN or sign-in code. Provider retention and processing settings remain under review as described below.
Optional website analytics
With your permission, Google Analytics measures visits to our public pages through Cloudflare Zaraz. Analytics cookies identify visits and sessions. Query strings, URL fragments, form entries, phone numbers, calls, transcripts and private account pages are excluded from the events sent to Google. Google advertising features are disabled.
Choose Decline to keep Analytics off. Use Analytics settings in the footer to change your choice. Security and consent-choice cookies remain necessary to operate the site and remember your preference.
Information used for a call
The person starting a call supplies both phone numbers, spoken-language and voice choices, and the original-voice setting. Earlier calls may also carry invitation and recording settings. SayWordy processes speech from both sides, recognized words, translations, acceptance events when applicable, keypad input, and call status and timing information.
The website’s hosting providers receive the technical information needed to handle your visit, such as your IP address and browser request information.
If you join the beta list, we store your email, consent, signup time and signup source in Cloudflare to send beta invitations and SayWordy updates. Joining the list does not create an account.
Why this information is processed
SayWordy uses this information to place and connect calls, pass keypad selections to the number you called, recognize speech, translate it, create spoken translations, and show the bilingual transcript. Recent conversation turns can be sent as context to improve recognition and translation and identify useful names or terms.
The people operating SayWordy may review stored call content to investigate problems and evaluate translation quality. Operational diagnostics help identify interruptions, delays, and delivery failures.
Speech processing and saved audio
Every call is transcribed for translation. Calls started from the phone dialer save text transcripts and call details, without saving audio. Other calling flows may save audio after notice and acceptance. This change does not delete previously stored recordings.
Call diagnostics may also be saved with recording off. The structured timing and recognition-failure logs are designed to exclude audio, phone numbers, and transcript text; separate call records and transcript files contain conversation information.
Providers that help run SayWordy
Relevant information is sent to service providers for these functions:
- Telnyx carries telephone calls and the associated phone numbers and audio.
- AssemblyAI and Deepgram process audio for speech recognition.
- OpenRouter, ModelRun and Cloudflare process conversation text and context for translation.
- Typesafe processes conversation text to help manage conversations and telephone menus.
- Cartesia receives translated text to generate the voice heard on the phone.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and call service and stores call records, transcripts, diagnostics, and requested recordings.
Storage and retention
Call records, transcripts, diagnostics, and requested recordings can remain stored after a call ends. A fixed automatic deletion period has not yet been confirmed for this private-access service. Ending a call, closing the browser, or turning recording off does not delete previously stored records.
Providers may apply their own storage and processing settings. Provider-specific retention, training-use settings, and international processing arrangements are still under review; this draft does not promise zero retention or that processing stays in one country.
Information kept in your browser
The website remembers your website language and chosen spoken languages in local storage. These language preferences do not contain phone numbers or passcodes. Session storage helps restore a call or retry the same request without dialing twice; it may contain phone numbers, call choices, a call ID, and a session access token.
The website language can suggest spoken languages for a new call. You can edit these suggestions; choices you make are remembered on this device and are not replaced when you change the website language. Clearing browser storage removes the local saved information, but does not erase SayWordy’s stored call records or necessarily end a connected telephone call.
Your choices and questions
You can decline or end a call and choose whether to hear original speech. The initiator’s browser can display the bilingual transcript. Consider who can see your screen or access a shared device.
To ask about access, correction, or deletion of information from a private-access call, contact the person who provided your SayWordy access. Include the call ID or approximate call time if available; do not send a passcode or session token. The applicable request process, verification steps, and dedicated privacy contact are still being finalized.
Access and security
The service uses HTTPS, private-access passcodes, and per-call session tokens. Translation requires SayWordy and its providers to process conversation content; it is not end-to-end encrypted solely between the two participants. No system can guarantee complete security.
The date above identifies this draft’s review. Operator identity, contact details, and the remaining retention and privacy arrangements must be confirmed before these pages become a final public policy.
Phone verification and free-minute records
We store your verified phone number, the disclosure version and acceptance time, and connected call usage to apply the one-time free allowance and prevent repeat claims. Creating another account or verifying the number again does not reset the allowance. We keep a record of a redeemed allowance after account deletion to prevent another claim. These service records are separate from optional call audio recordings and marketing permission.
Verification messages are sent through our messaging provider. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the request for automated abuse. We record service-text requests and confirmations with their timestamps, source and disclosure text; link secrets are not stored in those acceptance records. These records do not give permission for marketing messages.
